T-minus 3,652 (point 5) days
It all starts here. Can I reinvent my health, my wealth and my legacy in 10 years?
Today, I turned 50. A lot of people at this stage in their career would be coasting toward retirement. Instead, I’m initiating the biggest project of my life: in exactly 3,652 (point 5) days I’m aiming to become the healthiest version of myself, build a digital media business (Hey Joshua), generate enough income to comfortably retire, and leave a lasting legacy for my kids. All while being the dad my awesome 5-year-old SEN boys need me to be.
And I’ll be doing this completely in public, publishing everything from my resting heart rate to my net worth. Total transparency, total accountability.
The goal is simple: To share my experience, backed by data and documented decisions, and give hope for other mid-lifers that it’s never too late to take control of your health, wealth and legacy.
“The best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago. The next best time is now.”

Why now?
On paper, this appears to be a terrible idea. We home educate our boys, and with them both having ASD, life, to put it mildly, can be pretty full-on.
I’m a work from home Project Manager, so am always on hand to provide my wife with much needed respite throughout the day, and carving out any reasonable amount of time to even exercise, let alone build a startup, can be challenging.
The simple answer to ‘why now?’ is if not now, then when?
As a PM I’m painfully aware of Winston Churchill’s truism - perfection is the enemy of progress. The last 30 years of my life has been an apprenticeship for what I’m now endeavouring to do, and if I wait for the perfect time, with a perfectly polished business, it’d never start. Ready. Fire. Aim.
Starting this today gives me exactly one decade to build something meaningful. My boys are now 5, and I don’t want to tell them how to be ambitious, resilient, healthy and ‘live life large’ - I want to show them.
Tony Robbins once said something along the lines of “we’ve lost the art of making decisions, and instead state preferences”.
The word ‘decide’ literally means to ‘cut off’. Truly making a decision is to cut-off all other possibilities. Today, I’m cutting off all possibilities that aren’t aligned to my goals of health, wealth and legacy.
What are you going to decide for the next 10 years of your life?
What you can expect from me:
I’m committed to posting 52 articles over the next twelve months. I can’t promise perfectly polished prose, but I can promise it’ll be real, raw and relevant.
Here’s a flavour of what you can expect…
🍎 Health hacking my way to fit at fifty, including how to eat a clean, Mediterranean diet while fixing food for fussy five-year-olds, closing my Apple Watch rings between steering committee meetings and status reports, and experiments in intermittent fasting, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and visualisation
🚀 Building Hey Joshua in public, sharing my workflows, tools, decisions, wins and the inevitable failures as I attempt to create an asset that will eventually replace my 9 to 5 and give me the freedom to enjoy spending time with my family without worrying about being late to my next Teams call
🧩 The beautiful chaos of parenting twins with ASD; creating a safe sensory environment, loving unconditionally when the conditions are anything but lovely and the costly reality of home educating (spoiler alert - it’s worth every penny)
